We’re Just Two Weeks…

…from our first possible rain delay. I know, it could be a nice day after all. Hey, it’s way better to call it off than stand in the rain with a snot-bubbling ugly cry. It could be glorious thong weather too! Once we’re about ten days out, we’ll start to see some hint of what opening day may look like, and we’ll start to talk about it. We always call it the Thursday before at 3 PM.

As you may have noticed, we had to make additional refinements to our 2024 car criteria because of the overwhelming amount of email we’ve received in search of more granularity around JDMs. Right-hand drive alone doesn’t cut it. We’re seeing more and more JDMs every year so we’re getting picky, and we also have to cut way back on Kei trucks. We’re just not the show for everything and we don’t have the room.

We still get a lot of emails that can already be answered by looking at our criteria page. This isn’t hard. How will you ever survive a day in Fresno? It doesn’t do you any good to then write us and explain that they only painted 5,000 in your color and therefore it’s special. When we say no, we mean it more than your mom. This is all about an overall show that everyone is proud to call their local favorite. It’s the high standards that set the show apart from all the others.

Every year around this time, we get a lot of newbies who still think we’re Cars and Coffee, and if we can just bend the rules just for their custom-tweaked whatever, along with a list of mods, and it would be great. The answer is still no. Please, if you’re new to all this, read the website so you get some sense of what we’re all about.

What some don’t understand is that we get even more howlers when we’ve lowered the criteria for someone, and of course, someone has to write us in protest that their car is better, which is about as welcome as a tick on a testicle. It’s early in the season when we get all those dick-measuring emails that are so cringy. Just come out and get a feel for the show. It will all make more sense than Fresno.

Special Thanks!

Vic Tiscareno

We have four volunteers who are still with us and have been here from the very beginning- Vic and I started E@RTC together while he was still at Apple and commuting every week. Vic’s primary role from the day we started has been our brand ambassador, where he knows just about everyone who's ever attended. Vic has been taking pictures just about every day since we started and is the go-to guy for just about anything about the show. Thanks Vic, you couldn’t be a better co-founder and friend!

Sean McDonough

Then we have Sean, who was one of the first to become a Thug and is our resident expert on all things car-related. Sean’s depth of knowledge always impresses me, and he’s our go-to for tough calls. Everyone knows Sean because he’s been working the entrance for so long. He is up at all hours, so it doesn’t matter when I have a car question, it’s like he’s a walking AI. Thanks Sean for all you do all these years!

Andre Cunningham

Andre was right behind him and also is largely an ambassador to the event in addition to all other things. He also runs the company Returning Point that is behind our text messaging service. Andre also is a bit like Vic in that he also knows just about everyone who shows up. He’s also been our resident Porsche guy who’s been a huge help on German Car Day. Thanks Andre for fifteen years of help!

Tom Nault

Last of the original four is me, and there has been enough said about me already.

We also have a lot of alumni from our fifteen years, and we hope to see as many as the the parole boards will allow. Thanks guys for being here from the beginning and helping us build that first fifteen years and cheers to fifteen more!
