“Oh, My God Becky, They’re Back!”

Oh, we can’t wait!

I’m nudging you in the middle of the night to start getting excited about another year of E@RTC! This is our 15th Anniversary! FIFTEEN years! Can you believe it? Fifteen! Some of you couldn’t even drive when we started. Some of you can’t drive now. Some of you should never be driving, if you ask around.

Yup, February 14, 2009, was our first E@RTC! Pull out those old pics from when we started and look at how much hair you had and how little fat compared to the whopper you’ve become today! We aged about as gracefully as soup. Some of you are even getting plastic surgery and after-market parts! Hopefully, you don’t ever fly off to Mexico to botox “down there.”

Our first rain-out of the season is tentatively scheduled for April 6 unless it’s nice, then we’re on. It’s been a long time since opening day was actually ON opening day.

We received hundreds of emails about car criteria last season so we’re going to do our best to get rid of the ambiguity so we’re not playing twenty guesses. Still a hard no on the Type Rs. We are going to let Cyber Trucks in a for a while because it’s a breakthrough vehicle, until such time as it’s not interesting, which could be later in the season. We know a lot of people want to at least see one.

The blog will now resume for the year and once our season begins you can expect to see a new post every Thursday at 3 PM and sometimes in between if we have interesting news to share with all of you. Sometimes it’s not interesting but we pop off about it anyway. Between now and opening day, it will be more random. We’ll maybe cover what we saw at CES this year, which by the way, had a lot of car stuff.

The blog by itself has a big audience and we don’t want to write only about E@RTC because that gets a little too dull. Instead, we’d like to write more in the spirit of E@RTC, but cover other automotive topics that may matter to you, just to keep it fun. We may even do an occasional car review if we think a car is interesting. There is a lot of automotive news to cover with so many upcoming changes. The very spirit of the blog has always been as if we were standing around a parking lot making jokes, talking cars, and having a good laugh and we intend to preserve that as it’s in our DNA.

As it is, there is so much going on in the automotive world and we need a home for writing about cars like we all talk when we’re all standing around. We hope to generate more of the content you all know and love.

Meanwhile, between now and opening day, we have a lot to set up, from our special event dates, to our refreshed car criteria. We’ve updated the site for the new season, but we still have to refine our 2024 car criteria and we’re gathering up the volunteers to help us make those adjustments. Nope, we’re not lowering the bar. We’re just going to refine it, just as we do every year.

We’ll also be putting up the new calendar of special events. There is going to be one more added to the calendar this year, in addition to Opening, German, Italian, Classic and Collector, and British Car Day. It’s going to be something fun.

Stay tuned as we get ready. Oh, and one other thing. For those of you who like the writing here, I’ve created a separate Substack that won’t be about automotive all that much and it sits somewhere between profound and embarrassing. Car stuff will still go here, but you asked me personally about other writings, and so you can subscribe for free or as long as Substack will let me give it away. Just follow this link here. We will be back to you soon with more 2024 updates!
